Everyone wants to know the best ways to save money. I have compiled a list of what I beleive to be the top 10 most effective ways to save money. Enjoy!

1. Request a rate reduction or consolidate your credit cards. Some companies are willing to lower their interest rates if you are willing to make a phone call. It's worth a shot. If they say no, well then look at option number two, which is to consolidate your credit cards into a low 0% interest credit card. While your interest is low or at 0% continue making payments on your new card for the same amount as all the card payments combined, this will help pay off your debt quicker.

2. Request for a reduction in the interest rate for your home equity line of credit Just like with the credit cards most financial companies will allow you to request a rate reduction, or at least give you an option for a refinance. 3. Refinance you mortgage This one takes a little more thought. Interest rates are low again which means it's time to look at those refinance options again. When you refinance it's very important to look at all the prices involved. If you can lower your rate and say save $100 a month and you have to pay $3000 to do it, that would mean it would take 30 months to earn back the $3000 you had to pay to save $100 a month. 4. Subscribe to magazines that are must reads or free If you can't afford whats inside don't buy it!

5. Buy your car over the internet

7. Shut vents in unused rooms This isn’t advisable if you have forced air heating, but shutting vents in unused rooms can save on your heating and cooling bill.

8. Get healthy Your health will directly impact the cost of life insurance and, in some cases, can reduce the cost of your health insurance. Loans

If you have decided that you need a loan, maybe for re-financing, consolidation, or even just for extra cash flow then the following few links are going to help you out. I'm only going to explain the top sites and then I'll have some extra ones that I'm still researching. If you don't find what you're looking for feel free to use the google search bar at the top of this page.

One of my favorite things is to find sites that offer approvals to all credit types. It's very hard for people to re-establish themselves and I really like when I come accross a site that helps with just that. Abacus Credit is a great site to get financing if you have bad credit, they take all credit types.

MyAutoLoan.com is another site that I like. I recently purchased my first home and I used this web site to find the loan that I needed. You do one application and get up to four different loan offers. One thing to know about purchasing or refinancing your home is that if you apply with multiple companies within a 2 week period the credit bureu won't ding you on your credit report because they know you are rate shopping. This web site makes doing rate shopping really easy.

Cash Central is a great place to go if you need money right away. Now, as a personal banker, I will worn you that pay day loans can be scary. I recomend to only use a pay day loan if you have 100% no other option. If that is the case then out of all the pay day loan sites I recomend Cash Central.
